Omschrijving
CAT6 U / UTP slimline datacenter ethernetkabels hebben een kleinere diameter (3,8 mm versus 5,9 mm) dan gewone CAT 6 patchkabels en de buigradius is ook kleiner in vergelijking met reguliere patchkabels dit alles zorgt voor een betere luchtstroom in de netwerk kast.

Hoewel ISO / IEC en de TIA-normen het gebruik van patchsnoeren tussen 22 en 26 AWG beschrijven, is het mogelijk om 28 AWG-patchkabels te gebruiken, maar dit zal resulteren in een hogere demping, met name bij hogere frequenties.

ACT beveelt daarom een kortere permanent link lengte aan dan met reguliere 24 AWG-patchcords om deze hogere demping op te vangen.

ACT adviseert een maximale bundelgrootte van 24 kabels in PoE-toepassingen om de temperatuurstijgingen in de kabels te beperken die verband houden met het leveren van PoE-implementaties. Huidige standaard (ANSI TSB-184-A)limiet beperkt de maximale temperatuurstijging tot minder dan 15 graden Celsius boven de omgevingstemperatuur voor de centrale kabel in een bundel.
